BIOGRAPHY
Zebrahead is an American rock band from La Habra, California, formed in 1996. The group's current line-up comprises rapper Ali Tabatabaee, bassist Ben Osmundson, drummer Ed Udhus, lead guitarist Dan Palmer and lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Adrian Estrella.
They are a very rare case of a band that has released and performed their music under 3 different singers. Namely, Justin Mauriello (1996 - 2004), Matty Lewis (2005 - 2020), and Adrian Estrella (2020 - present).
Zebrahead has been actively touring and recording music for the last 27 years, if there is one thing they should be praised for, it's their determination; as most bands would have been broken apart from the loss of such a crucial role as the singer, but Zebrahead pushed forward. And although they seem to have moved mostly away from performing their old material from the Justin era, (minus Falling Apart, and Hello Tomorrow) There are still some hidden gems to be found that many fans may not have not seen before.
RARE DISCOGRAPHY
STUPID FAT AMERICANS
Much of the success Zebrahead experienced back in the day came from Japan; While America seemed to have turned the blind eye on the boys, Japan showed the most support, and thus, Zebrahead released this Japan-only CD, as shown on obi-strip in Japanese, released to coincide with the band's 2001 Japan tour.
Comes with multicolored foldout insert (in English) with photos and lyrics on heavy stock paper, and a Japanese insert with liner notes and translated lyrics.
Aside from the title, The cover holds the most of Zebrahead's clever humor they had at the time. while still respecting the Japanese culture of their fans by recreating their iconic album cover for "Playmate Of The Year", released in 2000.
It is a short mix of several special live versions of old tracks from Waste Of Mind like Jagoff, Some Day, and Get Back; It also shows off the first demos of Crome and Swing from the 1997 demo tape, also known as the Yellow Album. And interestingly, it has an exclusive release of Deck The Halls (I Hate Christmas). and Wasted from Playmate Of The Year.
BURIED TRACKS (2005)
This is a live album freeby given to the MFZB Fanclub members who ordered the "Blood, Sweat and Beers" DVD on Zebrahead store.
Includes various live recordings of Some Day, Subtract You, and a cover of Wannabe by the Spice Girls
WEBSITE
ZEBRAHEAD WEBSITE FROM JULY 2000, TO SEP 2008;
Through much of the early 00s, Zebrahead's website went under two different domain addresses, "www.zebrahead.com" and "www.zebrahead.tv". They appeared to have made the domain switch when they parted ways with Justin and Matty joined the band, along with a plethora of really cool animated welcome pages with sounds and sweet graphics!
Something to note, one of the side effects of digital decay is many of the saves from the late 00's era (2005-2008) don't seem to display anything passed the welcome pages.
Now lets compare to today's view of the Zebrahead internet home base...
Much more vibrant and electric; Although I prefer the cut-throat, urban look of their old sites, it's nice to see that the creativity and personality was never sacrificed!
